Jennifer Ruby graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2006 and graduated, cum laude, from the Elon University School of Law in 2010. She is admitted to practice in all North Carolina State Courts (including the North Carolina Court of Appeals and North Carolina Supreme Court), all North Carolina Federal District Courts and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. She frequently appears in small claims, District and Superior Court throughout North Carolina.

Jennifer’s practice primarily focuses on civil litigation, landlord/tenant matters, estate litigation disputes, partition proceedings, incompetency matters and post judgment collections. Her landlord/tenant practice focuses primarily on representing landlords in both conventional and subsidized housing. She also represents numerous manufactured home communities throughout the state. Jennifer routinely advises her clients on current applicable state and federal regulations. She frequently represents clients in appeals to both District Court and the North Carolina Court of Appeals.

Jennifer is passionate about giving back to the community. She has repeatedly been recognized as a member of the North Carolina Pro Bono Honor Society for providing 50 or more hours of pro bono legal services each year, was a volunteer attorney with the Women’s Resource Center for several years and has frequently appeared on local news stations to answer various legal questions. Jennifer served for several years as a Preceptor for the Elon University School of Law and is a former president of the Elon Law Alumni Council.

Jennifer is also very involved with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and has been consistently recognized as a Top 100 fundraiser for the annual New Bern BikeMS event. She is a 2016 graduate of Leadership Greensboro. Despite not ever having any actual dance training, in 2018, Jennifer was selected as a local “Star” to dance in the Tenth Annual “Dancing with the Carolinas Stars” event benefiting Operation Smile Carolinas.

Jennifer is an avid UNC Tarheel fan, and enjoys cheering for the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and son.
